Handmade Welsh Gold Jewellery

Beauty of Handmade

Jewellery, at its heart, can be a very personal gift. One, that if it resonates with the person, may be worn everyday, for the whole world to see. That’s why when purchasing jewellery, people should consider handmade, to give that gift the extra personal touch that is absent from store bought jewellery.

Handmade jewellery can trace its roots back to prehistoric times where jewellery was made of shells, stones and bones to signify status or rank. Over time, after the introduction of metal, jewellery making techniques became more sophisticated and more intricate.

About Us

Here at the Welsh Gold Company we have been working with Welsh gold jewellery for over 30 years in our state of the art Cardiff Workshop.

We pride ourselves with making evocative and distinctive jewellery, inspired by the beauty of Wales. Our Rings and Jewellery are designed, made and finished in Wales using the traditional techniques that have been handed down through generations of Welsh goldsmiths.

History

First discovered in 1854, Welsh Gold has always been extremely rare and difficult to find. It has been a prized jewellery metal for centuries and dates back to the days of the Celtic kingdoms, when nobles wore gold torcs as a badge of rank and power.

Welsh gold has been used by Royalty since 1911 when it was used at the investiture of Prince Edward of Wales at Caernarfon Castle.
